Much e many são palavras em inglês que são usadas para expressar a quantidade de alguma coisa, eles são os chamados quantifiers.
Much significa “muito, muita” enquanto many significa “muitos, muitas”, e dependendo do contexto da frase podem ter o mesmo significado.
A lot of também possui o mesmo significado de much e many, e pode ser traduzido como “muito, muita”.

Os substantivos contáveis e incontáveis são aqueles que podemos ou não contar com números.
Os contáveis geralmente possuem uma forma no singular e plural e podem ser contados por números, por exemplo: um cachorro, dois cachorros, três cachorros, etc.
Já os incontáveis são aqueles que não podem ser contados, não possuem forma no plural e precisam de alguma referencia de quantidade ou unidade de medida para serem contados, por exemplo: litro de água, litro de leite, colher de açúcar, etc.

Substantivos incontáveis
- Beauty – beleza
- Luck – sorte
- Water – água
- Milk – leite
- Sugar – açúcar
Much
Much é usado quando queremos nos referir a substantivos incontáveis, ou seja, quando o substantivo não pode ser usado no plural.
Exemplo:
I don’t have much money – Eu não tenho muito dinheiro.
I have too much sugar at home – Eu tenho muito açúcar em casa.
Many
Many é usado para falar de substantivos contáveis, ou seja, aqueles substantivos que podem ser contados, sem a necessidade de usar uma unidade de medida ou referência.
É usado com substantivos que estão no plural.
Exemplo:
There are many cars here – Há muitos carros aqui.
There are many girls in my classroom – Tem muitas meninas na minha sala de aula.
A lot of
A lot of pode ser traduzido tanto como “muito” quanto como “muitos”, depende do contexto, e pode ser usado tanto com substantivos contáveis como com substantivos incontáveis.
A diferença é que “a lot of” é uma forma mais informal de se falar.
Exemplo:
I have a lot of ideas – Eu tenho muitas ideias
There is a lot of milk in the bottles – Há muito leite nas garrafas.
How much
Nós usamos o “how much” para perguntar sobre a quantidade de algo incontável.
A expressão how much significa “quanto” ou “quanta”.
Exemplo:
How much money do we have? – Quanto dinheiro nós temos?
How much sugar do I need? – De quanto açúcar eu preciso?
How many
Usamos o how many para perguntar a quantidade de algo contável e a expressão how many significa “quantos, quantas”.
Exemplo:
How many dollars do you have? – Quantos dólares você tem?
How many sisters does he have? – Quantas irmãs ele tem?
Qual a diferença entre Much, Many e A lot of

A diferença entre eles é que much e many geralmente são usados em contextos mais informais e vemos com mais frequência na escrita.
Já o a lot of é usado de uma maneira mais informal em conversas do dia a dia, além de poder ser usado tanto com substantivos contáveis como substantivos incontáveis.
